Welcome to Lavender Hill

Welcome to Lavender Hill

Several years ago, I stumbled across a UK television program with Architect George Clark called Build a New Life in the Country. He followed people as they left their city jobs and moved to a rural setting for a better way of life.

There was something in each episode that drew me in week after week ~ the landscape, the country settings, the gorgeous stone cottages ~ I wanted to change the course of my life. I wanted a garden. I wanted the deafening sounds of a country summer night and the still silence of a country winter. And I wanted these things before I got too old or too afraid to do it.

In 2012, I left my career behind to follow a life-long dream ~ to own a home in the country with some land on which I could garden and just stop and live for awhile…

I bought a small acreage named Lavender Hill, with low-carbon-footprint R2000-built house with photovoltaic, passive solar, and geothermal technologies.

I’m an artist and a gardener and on my land I grew, harvested, dried and sold several varieties of lavandula Angustifolia ~ true English Lavender ~ alongside a few hybrid varieties from which I made stunning bouquets, lavender sachets and other lavender-inspired products.

I specialized in Culinary Lavender harvested from the true varieties of lavender which is less camphoric or bitter tasting as is often found in the x-intermedia or hybrid varieties.

Looking to Shop? Although I retired from growing lavender in 2021, I still sell the last harvest and my artworks and creations through the “Rustic Lavender Boutique“.

~ I hope you enjoy your time here @Lavender Hill…
